My Approach & Values
I have a warm and friendly approach. Text, ring, or email me for an informal chat about my services, and to book a session with me. The first session is free, and will be a client assessment to get a full picture of your life and to agree to what you want to focus on. Then we agree to 6-8, or possibly more, counselling sessions.
I am an integrative practitioner, which means that the many psychotherapeutic theories I have trained in, I combine to work for you, and your specific needs. All my of practices are evidence based and can help you heal from any lasting impacts of anxiety, depression, and even more severe types of mental ill health, for example Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
I have experience working with many different types of people, with a variety of issues I have a specialism in neurodiversity (ADHD, Autism, dyspraxia, and dyslexia) and I am trauma informed.
I am person-centered and work with you towards lasting healing and positive change within you, no matter what your goals and aspirations. I am a good listener and very non-judgmental, so any problem you have however big or small, you can bring to the counselling.
As well as my training I have my own personal story and have overcome difficulties with depression and anxiety, which I now realize is to do with being neurodiverse. I have worked in counselling for 4 years, worked in health and social care for 25 years, and been a meditation teacher for 30 years.
I believe in a positive definition of ‘mental health’ and that it encompasses: emotional, psychological and social wellbeing. Mental health is everywhere, we all get mental health distress, and we all have inner resources within us, to solve our problems. Mental health distress turns into a mental health problem when it gets in the way of us holding down a job, or running our house.
I believe counselling can be a very healing and transformative process for the client. I am passionate about helping people try and understand themselves, and for them to try and make positive changes within their mind and lives.
Answers, solutions, and a happier mind, can lie within us.
